Art exhibit explores the “Dissonance” of protest

Taller Puertorriqueño is a nonprofit in Fairhill that focuses on Puerto Rican and Latino arts and culture.

Artist Miguel Antonio Horn’s work, “Dissonance,” is on display in Taller’s gallery until Oct. 28. The exhibit reflects on “cacerlazos,” a form of protest in which people bang on pots and pans.

Rafael Damast, exhibitions program manager and curator, said protest is part of larger political discussions currently happening in many countries, including the United States.

“This is something really resonant,” he said. “This is something that is kind of really lived and people are very fearful and they’re trying to kind of grapple and find how they can challenge what’s happening in society and try to rectify it.”
